Hi! I’m Jim. I’m just beginning my seventh year in Russia working for Language Link. My decision to come here wasn’t random. I studied Russian at university and during my course I spent three very enjoyable months in Russia. So, after graduation, it seemed logical to come and explore the country more and improve my Russian language skills.
After doing some research on the internet, I found Language Link and decided to apply. I chose to work for them partly because of the support package with assurances about visa support and accommodation and partly, having no previous TEFL background, because of the internship training scheme to teaching. So I packed my bags and here I came.
I went through the internship programme, which was really enjoyable and taught me a lot. Then I started work. I steadily got to grips with things and thanks to the ready availability of help I’ve always found my questions answered. When the year was over, I decided it wasn’t enough and stayed on for a second year, this time as a qualified teacher, and then worked my way up.
Now I’m enjoying the challenges of being the Head of Training and Support for Moscow branch schools. My main centre of responsibility is Moscow where I’ve been based for the last few years. Language Link's Central School in Moscow is large enough to accommodate over twenty classrooms yet its size has never prevented the school from having a friendly group of staff. As a member of the academic management team, I’m happy to offer the same level of support to all Moscow teachers that I enjoyed as a Language Link teacher.
If you have any academic questions whatsoever, don’t be afraid to come up to me ask or just to say hi. I look forward to working with you.
