Marin Baker

Hi. My name’s Marin Baker, and I’m the ADOS of Zelenograd a.k.a. Green City. I arrived in Zelenograd in 2004 having little idea what to expect from my students, from the school, or from Russia in general. After a series of downs and ups, I decided to stick with it and sign on for another year in Zelenograd. In May of 2006, I was offered the job of ADOS and have been working as the Zelenograd ADOS ever since. In my capacity as ADOS, I do my best to help teachers develop professional skills that will help them both in our Zelenograd schools and in EFL in general. I do this through a combination of scheduled academic support (observations, workshops) and one-to-one academic tutorials at the teacher's request. It is my dream that every teacher be able to walk out of each lesson feeling that their students have learned something because they did the best possible job. Of course, academic support is only part of my job. It is also important for academic support staff to work with teachers and administrators to help create a positive, friendly work environment and to help new teachers make the often difficult transition to Russian life.
