Jennifer Kelly

I began working with Language Link in September 2005 by participating in the Teacher Intern Programme. After having graduated with a major in Russian Studies, I was thrilled to have found an affordable way to fulfill my dream of living in Moscow.

Having 3 weeks to learn how to teach was great. I found it really helpful to have shorter practice teaching sessions, especially considering you're surrounded by experienced teachers. I definitely think this was a worthwhile experience, and would recommend this program/school to anyone interested in living in Moscow. As for the 3 weeks of learning to teach - it was fun. I was always excited to come in, and all of the classes were fun and energetic!

After completing the initial programme, I worked as a teacher for 4 months. I had a great schedule, friendly students, and the woman who ran the school was very easy to get along with. I’ve always been grateful for my experience teaching English, mainly because I think it really helped my confidence, and my ability to speak in front of groups of people.

Upon my return from Christmas break, I was made aware that Language Link was looking to fill the part-time position of Assistant International Programmes Coordinator. Because I could speak passable Russian, I thought I would give it a try. Once I was hired for this position, I was offered to spend the other half of my time working in the Translation Department, and thus began January of 2006.

It was great to have been allowed to give translation a shot to see if it was a good match, but in the end, I found my place in the International Programmes Department, where I began working full time in June 2006. This has been a very multifaceted job – we’ve been involved in marketing, recruiting, hiring, training, and emergency situations, to name just a few. I stayed on to take over the department in the summer of 2007, and since then, have extended my contract again to stay on as a consultant until Sept 2007.

I’ve had a great experience here. I enjoyed teaching, and was thrilled to have the opportunity to explore other jobs within the company.
