"If we spoke a different language, we would perceive a somewhat different world."
- Ludwig Wittgenstein (1889-1951), 20th century philosopher
For many, the desire to come and work in Russia is fuelled by a love for Russian culture, literature and language. It cannot be denied that the more you can communicate in Russian, the richer your experience of life here will be. Yet full-time teachers often find that the pressures of work make it difficult to devote as much time and energy to Russian language studies as they would like.
Language Link's Work-Study programme is perfect for those who want to really immerse themselves in the riches of Russian language and culture during their stay. Work-Study participants spend approximately half their time studying Russian, and the other half working as a teacher of their native language (be it English, French, German or Italian). The programme thus provides a unique and affordable opportunity to greatly improve your Russian language proficiency, while simultaneously acquiring invaluable international work experience.
Effective learning Studying Russian in Russia is the best possible way to achieve fluency rapidly. You immediately put what you learn in the classroom into practice, and the constant need to communicate with Russian friends and colleagues motivates you to persevere with the intricacies of Russian grammar. Language Link's Russian Department runs academic courses for both British and American universities, and our experienced teachers, who are all specialists in teaching Russian as a foreign language, have worked at Moscow's top universities.
Affordability By dividing your time between learning Russian (for which you pay) and teaching English (for which you receive payment), you are able to spend an extended period of time studying in Russia affordably. As a Language Link employee, you study at a discounted rate in comparison with the standard price of lessons, and your wages for teaching should cover 80-100% of your living costs during your stay.
Peace of mind Language Link has over 10 years experience of bringing EFL teachers to Russia, and we are considered one of the top language schools operating in Russia today. For the independent traveller, getting to Russia can be a minefield of red-tape, but Language Link simplifies the task and helps you every step of the way: we provide you with accommodation, a visa invitation and registration, medical services and continual academic support. Once you arrive, our friendly programme coordinators are always around to help and advise.
Investment in your future As well as giving you invaluable language skills, Work-Study can be a way to earn an in-house TEFL certificate. Via language teaching you also acquire transferable skills valued by all employers: interpersonal communication, time and space management, and presentation giving, to name just a few.
