Articles

Russian has no articles. The mistake russian learners of English make in the use of English articles are too numerous to list here. There is a general confusion in the understanding of the basic differences between the, a/an and the zero article. One of the initial problems for Russian learners is learning how to use the article in general. Example:

1) New house is building near cinema that is near us.
2) Have you mother?

Then there is the problem of choice between the definite (the) and indefinite articles (a/ an).

1) Have you the mother?
2) Is she a woman you told us about?

Solving these problems will involve both the frequent citing of rules and doing lots and lots of practice.
